In September 1776, General George Washington asked for a volunteer for an extremely dangerous mission: to gather intelligence behind enemy lines before the coming Battle of Harlem Heights. Captain Nathan Hale of the 19th Regiment of the Continental Army stepped forward and subsequently become one of the first known American spies of the Revolutionary War. Several days into his mission, he was captured by the British, interrogated, and on his way to the gallows uttered these infamous words; "I only regret that I have but one life to give for my country.”
You're looking for a container hidden in Irwin Freese Park where Nathan Hale's journey began. Read the plaque on the large rock to learn about this important event in American history!
The street can be busy and a lot of muggle activity should be expected, so be stealthy and discrete. BYOP!
