#1. “Baytown's Scenic Beauty - Cedar Bayou”
To encourage Geocaching enthusiasts back to the water
This series has been placed on the 'East Side' of Baytown,
where Cedar Bayou flows
from Liberty County to Galveston Bay.
Industrial construction, barge traffic and natural erosion
consistently contribute to the ever-changing shoreline terrain;
so load up your yak, canoe, boat, or other choice of ‘ride’
and head for the water
to see what Baytown has to offer
in this new Geocaching adventure.
Beautiful scenery; a magnificent variety of birds;
a good place to fish
and a great opportunity to enjoy the day awaits.
I hope you enjoy your time
traversing this 5 mile stretch of
‘Baytown's Scenic Beauty - Cedar Bayou’.
Safety First:
Ø Observe all rules of water safety.
Ø Wear a life vest.
Ø Wear sunscreen
Ø Bring plenty of WATER
Ø Yield to large vessels
Ø Respect the private property of residents along the waterway
Ø Enjoy your visit
Please Note That:
ü Weather conditions are subject to change at the spur of the moment. This IS Texas.
ü Excursion difficulty depends on the currents and can be smooth as glass or quite choppy.
ü Limited availability of launch locations, boat/barge traffic, current and tides can make this series a bit exciting/challenging.
ü The approximate 5 mile trek should be accessible by almost any form of water-craft, kayak to motor boat, pending the tides.
o Caches were placed, at 'low tide' in MrB's flat bottom 'yacht'.
ü Cary's Bayou (along the northern end of the series) is posted to accommodate a '5ft draft', but is a 'no-wake' zone.
o If the tide is low, you may note a few fallen trees/stumps to navigate around.
ü It is a lovely ride. I hope you come to explore, and enjoy, the waters of Baytown
And one Final Note:
v As with all caching, please remember to keep the waterways clear of trash and please do not disturb the crab traps or private property you will pass on your venture.
