Geocache Description:

This cache is one in an ongoing series highlighting important figures in the history of the academic discipline of geography. If you complete this series, you might be ready to pass your qualifiying exams for a PhD in Geography!

In the 1980s and 90s, practically every fantasy novel published seemed to have a map drawn by Shelly Shapiro. Books that featured her maps included David Eddings' Belgariad and Malloreon series, Terry Brooks' Shannara series, Harry Turtledove's Videssos series, and some recent editions of The Lord of the Rings. I can find no biographical information about her beyond a mention of being an editor at Del Rey, but she drew enough maps in her distinctive style that I think she deserves a cache in her honor.

Cache is a simple P&G.
