Slap Šum, ki ga poznamo tudi pod imenom Nemiljski Šum, se nahaja blizu zaselka Nova vas pri Zgornji Besnici na Gorenjskem. Je največji potočni slap v Sloveniji, saj pada 22 m globoko. Največ vode ima spomladi, ko se v okoliških gorah tali sneg, in po močnejšem deževju.
Slap Šum napaja potok Nemiljščica, ki na tem mestu pada v kotanjo oblike visokega vrča. Na vrhu se iz potoka tvorita dva curka, se v prvem delu slapa združita in skupaj padeta v srednji tolmun. Od tu se voda v enem curku požene v tretji, zadnji del. Tu se curek razdeli na dve polovici. Na levo stran teče v enem močnem curku. Na desno pa se curek razprši v trikotnik, kar se še posebej lepo vidi pozimi.
Avto pustite na označenih koordinatah, saj boste nižje ob poti težko parkirali. Pot je dolga kakšnih 10 do 15 minut, a na mestih kar strma. Na nevarnejših predelih je zavarovana z ograjo. Za popestritev izleta vam predlagamo tudi vzpon na 707 m visok Rovnik, mimo katerega vodi tudi krožna učna pot.

Waterfall Šum, also known as Nemilje Šum, is located near Nova vas near village Zgornja Besnica. It is 22 m tall and is the biggest waterfall in Slovenia that is powered by a stream. It is best viewed in the early spring or after a heavy rainfall.
The waterfall Šum gets its water from a stream Nemiljščica. When the water fall it make a three part waterfall. In the first part two streams combine into one that falls into the second part of the waterfall. That heavy stream than falls into the third, last part where it is divided into two half's. The left half has the form of one strong stream of water, while the right half is sprayed on the rocks. That is especially interesting to see during the winter.
You can leave the car parked at the marked coordinates. There is little to no parking space on the 10 – 15 minutes walk to the waterfall. The path s not difficult, but can be steep at some places. The dangerous parts are protected by the fence. You can extend the trip by visiting the hill Rovnik (707 m).
