The “spring check” in 2019 will be the last of the regular formal checks at this location; hereafter, we will visit only when we are informed in a log or personal e-mail that maintenance is needed - so please keep us informed!
The Cache
Entering the general area where this cache is located, and approaching the main parking lot, you will pass to the right side of the road a significant spot which we are calling Given . . . simply because it is! About as far from Given as possible while remaining in this tract of land, is a cache created by JOHNNYgeoCASH called Get to the point already! - GC12VYJ.
The cache we are presenting to you is directly on a crow’s flight between Given and Get to the point already! If that line were divided into 64 equal segments, you would find the cache at precisely 55 of those segments from Given. All you need to do now, is to determine the co-ordinates of the cache . . . and get there! (It won’t be as the crow flies!)
The co-ordinates of Given are the stated co-ordinates for this cache. The co-ordinates for Get to the point already! are conveniently provided in the list of waypoints for this cache. Now, get your pen, some paper and a calculator and go to work. Good luck!
(We did this two ways, by the way, and both methods yielded the precise answer - but however you do it, keep all the decimal places you can! And, as of 2017-05-09, one team recently informed us of a third method of solving the puzzle.)
Comments
- No need to bushwack . . . provided you choose the correct trails;
- Please bring your own writing utensil;
- Tweezers will probably be of assistance but gently, please!;
- The container is a camouflaged "pre-form" container tethered in place;
- Crows in our area seem to be ignorant of the curvature of the earth so, for what it would have mattered, we ignored it too;
- Hours of operation in this area: May to October: 07:00 - 21:00; November to April: 08:00 - 18:00;
- Note the parking areas provided - one in the "winter" months, three more in the "summer" months;
- There is a parking machine near the permanent parking - $4 for the day; however one might wish first to visit the office - 80 m away - and purchase an annual pass to all "Kawartha Conservation conservation areas" for $84.75 - 20% less for seniors;
- Co-ordinates are "swingy" in here so be patient with your device - it's doing its best;
- Please feel free to confirm your answer on GeoChecker.com.
