Do not be tempted to go past the parking spot unless you want to lose your suspension and your no claims bonus!
This is a cache placed just off the signposted walk between Lajares and El Cotillo. It is especially for those who do not want to climb volcanoes but are tired of hearing others talk about" the amazing views from the top". It is a gradual climb and leads to a plateau overlooking El Cotillo and El Roque and gives great views of both villages as well as the coast to the north and south.
From the rest area turn due North and climb towards the little dip you can see. It is best to go to the right of the Baranco. The terrain is not steep but it is all loose rocks and shale so good shoes are a must. Do not be tempted by that nice looking track to your left that goes straight up the side, it is just loose earth and gets very steep at the top.
