"The Tractor"

Originally owned by Joe Grogan & Edgar Savage of this area. Primarily for threshing grain in the early 1900’s. Eventually sold to Bluford Reeder & Herman Flowers used to power a sawmill, in the clearing of what is now Dale Hollow Lake. As the lake waters rose in 1943, equipment being moved to higher ground, the tractor had mechanical issues, causing it to be cut off from all roads of escape. Remaining 60 feet below the now filled Lake. In 1986, Tommy & Linda Maxwell of the “Grove Dive Shop” found and logged the exact location of this piece of Lake History. On two different occasions attempts failed to raise the tractor. On Oct. 7, 1987 with the help of the US Army Corps, the tractor was raised up, & taken to Willow Grove Resort undergoing, approximately 6 weeks of restoration bringing it to the present state.
