Geocache Description:

This Cache is placed as part of the 2016 New York State Park Central Region Geocache Challenge. There are 70 geocaches hidden within 20 state parks and historic sites in this parks region, and geocachers finding 40 or more will be eligible to enter their names in a drawing for valuable prizes. The first 100 people to find 40 or more caches will receive a special geocache challenge coin. If you are interested in taking up the challenge, you can pick up a geocache passport at any of the participating parks and sites or download it at www.nysparks.com

NYS Parks Saratoga - Capital Region will be hosting a similar challenge!!  10 caches found in the Sara-Cap Region Challenge can be used toward the Central Challenge (and visa versa)!

Be sure to check each park or site’s unique web page for possible trail maps and other facility specific information. www.nysparks.com

Be sure to bring a good old fashioned GPSr with you, as many of our beautiful State Parks/ Historic sites have limited or no cell service!!!

This cache contains a unique stamp which must stay with the cache. Use this stamp to mark your passport. This stamp is NOT a trade item. Some of the items in the cache are park souvenirs and do not need to be replaced with a trade item.

There are several ways to reach this cache, but the best/easiest way is off the Big Buck trail.   You can take the Mildred Faust trail from the west end of the parking lot to the Big Buck Trail, or you can take the Cliff trail from the northeast corner of the parking lot, turn left on Dry Lake trail, then turn left on Big Buck Trail.  Stay on the Big Buck trail until you're about 100 feet away, then cut through the woods.   This is a dinosaur themed cache, and the moss covered rocks near ground zero have a Jurassic Park feel to them.  Please trade fairly.

After finding the cache, you may want to continue southeast on the Big Buck trail to connect to the Cliff Trail and a great view of Glacier/Green Lake.
