St Jude's Church, Southsea
A beautiful church situated at the northern end of the popular Palmeston Road area in Southsea, St Judes was built in 1851. Unfortunately I cannot find much out regarding the history of this church so if any fellow cachers have any info they could forward to me it would be most appreciated.
Now for the cache...
The given coordinates take you to the path just beside the church, you need to make some observations from here. You can find all the answers from this vantage point, however feel free to take a look round and have closer looks if you wish but the questions rely on you being stood on this spot.
First look up at the church spire, you will see a gold shape right at the very top. If you see a star, A=4. If you see a cockerel, A=2.
Next look at the front doors directly infront of you and count the number of rectangular windows above the doors. If there are nine rectangular windows, B=2. If there are seven rectangular windows, B=6.
Right infront of you are some steps. If you count four steps, C=8. If you count six steps, C=1.
Looking back at the doors, on one side of the door is a foundation stone laid by the Rt Revd Dr Kenneth Stevenson on the 24th July 2009. If the foundation stone is to the left of the door, D=7. If the foundation stone is to the right of the door, D=2.
You will also notice that these glass doors have a rather elaborate pattern on them. If you see a large shape of a sun on the door, E=7. If you see a large shape of a cross on them, E=3.
Lastly, if you look down the street to your left toward the nearby bus stop, you will see a war memorial. If this memorial is an obelisk, F=9. If the memorial is a cross, F=1.
You will find the cache at N50 47.ABC W001 05.DEF. If your co-ordinates are more than a minutes walk away try again!
