Geocache Description:

The Western Reserve Greenway Trail (WRGT) is a 26 mile long paved trail owned by Ashtabula County Metroparks. The trail receives no public funds and is instead funded by grants and donations.

With the original WRGT GeoTrail, there was a series of "Walk or Ride" caches. There were over 100 of them at the time. When the trail was remodeled in 2014, there was another series of caches called Rails2Trail. With this edition of the GeoTrail, the Western Reserve Geocachers have decided to pay tribute to those previous series by including the "Walk or Bike" series. Unlike the previous series, the new series has only 26 caches, one in each mile of the trail.

The WRGT is maintained by volunteers, including a volunteer bike patrol that also helps to maintain the trail by offering information and assistance to those using the trail. Please do your part and CITO as you Walk or Bike your way along the trail.

The 2016 edition of the WRGT GeoTrail features a variety of cache types, containers, sizes, and D/T ratings. The geocaches have been published by a number of local geocachers collectively known as the "Western Reserve Geocachers". The souvenir geocoins have been funded by the Ashtabula County Convention & Visitors Bereau.

Please note, the Geocoins are not expected to be available until July 2016.

In order to earn the Geocoin you must complete the whole 26 miles of trail and write down 2 code words from each mile of trail into the passport. Each mile has at least 3 or 4 code words. Words are located on lids and or logs along with the mile number. Once you have completed the trail and have your 52 code words you can receive your coin from the ACC&VB located on Austinburg Road (N 41 47.380, W 080 51.219). You may also pick up coins at Shannons Mini Mart at the trail and RT 307 (N 41 46.323, W 080 51.139). YOU MUST HAVE 52 WORDS TO RECEIVE YOUR COIN (First come first serve). See passports for more info. Additionally, when claiming your coin, you will be asked to complete a brief survey.

If you have any questions, please contact any of the Western Reserve Geocachers: CrazyKC, Karen1962, Purple Flower, Skibug9, LadyElliott, Steve&Missy, Falamazar, JackalopeJim, GCartner, Lonewolf, Daisy Explorers or the ACC&VB.
