Where: The Queen's Oak, Church Lane, Finchampstead, Berkshire RG40 4LS. We'll be in the garden if the weather is good. The event is close to a June 2001 cache, GCBE3 - The Queens Oak.
When: Thursday the 23rd of June 2016, from 7pm 'til 9.30pm.
What: A gathering of cachers to talk caching, swap travel items and caching stories, and enjoy the area. The venue welcomes well behaved geokids (not in the bar area) and geodogs.
Ancient caches: A theme of the Geolympix is old caches (Europe's 8th oldest/England's oldest, GC171, is close to it, as are several others from 2001), which made this spot, near several other old caches (11.3miles to Cranbourne, Nov.01 / v. close to Royal Oaks Virtual, Mar.02!), an easy choice. Also, it's very lovely!
Why: The Geolympix Countdown cache events are international roadshow meets to highlight Britain and Ireland's first National Geocaching Awards, a caching film festival, Europe's 9th oldest cache (England's 2nd oldest, UK's 3rd oldest) plus the UK's oldest Puzzle cache, our AlphaBet You Can't challenge and much, much more!
At this meet you'll have a chance to hear about our plans for this July's Geolympix Mega which is being held at Ashridge Estate, Berkhamsted, Herts, UK - 32miles/52Km north of here - on July 31st 2016. PLUS! The Geolympix is on the way from this area to The North Wales Mega and THE GPS MAZE, being held the weekend after!
