This cache will take you down the beautiful St Joseph River past undeveloped property and wildlife. We commonly see Deer, Geese, Great Blue Heron, Swans, Ducks, Otter, and last year we saw Bald Eagles on several occasions.
You will need a boat of some sort to complete this cache. (Canoe, kayak, motorboat). Even if you can find parking closer to the cache, we recommend against attempting to swim as the river has a strong current. We also suggest you always use a life vest (PFD) when boating on the river.
The property on both sides of the river is private property. This cache is on State waterway but not accessible from land without crossing Private property. ONLY for approach from the river. DO NOT CROSS PROPERTY FROM LAND TO ATTEMPT THIS CACHE.
The rating for this cache is based on the need for a watercraft and difficulty of locating and accessing hide. If this were in a park it would be a 3.5 / 2 rating.
As you are passing by the Big Orange Travel Bug Convention Center cache (GCK8ZV), be sure to wave as when we are home we often watch boats passing on the river. If you haven’t found it yet you are welcome to come ashore. Even if you have found it, stop and say hello.
