THE HAUNTED HOLLOW VIII Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Snoring Eagles: This was another great event that seem to come and go so quickly. I want to thank everyone that help with the event again this year to make it possible. Everyone that brought the great food to make the luncheon possible. Thanks to the Allen Cachers, Gandy Dancers, Rebel Spies and Infamous 61 for hiding all the caches this year and Remspec for doing the cooking. I need to thank two others Mrs Snoring Eagle who put together the goodie bags for the micro cachers and Mrs Gandy Dancer who put together the goodie bags for the geo Pup's. Without them there would be no event. Look for this event again next year August 19, 2017. On another note if you left a 31 bag at the event contact me and we will make arrangements to get it to you.

Geocache Description:

THE HAUNTED HOLLOW VIII

at

SLEEPY HOLLOW STATE PARK

August 20, 2016

A Geocaching Event Celebrating Some of Michigan’s

Most Celebrated Haunted Houses and Other Places

This will be a Ghostly Event

As you travel the hiking trails in Sleepy Hollow State Park, you will encounter many of Michigan’s creatures in their natural surroundings.  So keep your eyes open and enjoy the wonder that Sleepy Hollow State Park has to offer.  As you pass the foundations of some of the past homes in the park keep in mind there may be a ghost or two waiting to guide you.

We will be gathering at the South Beach Pavilion to give out event cache coordinates and draw for first-to-find rights.  At least 40 caches will be placed for this event, all located within the park.  All caches will be lock & lock or similar type containers.  They will vary in size and difficulty, some of the terrain may be difficult.  A Geo-caching 101 class will be held at 10 a.m. for beginners.  The course will cover all the aspects of geo-caching, how to use a GPS to find caches, the different types of caches, how they are hidden and how to become a member of the geo-caching community.  Special kids caches were such a great hit in the past, so we are bringing them back this year.  At least 5 caches will be placed for the Micro-Cachers only.  They will be placed near the main event area.

Coffee and donuts will be provided for the morning gathering.  Following a morning of caching we will gather back at the pavilion at 1 p.m. for a potluck lunch and a chance to share the day’s adventures with each other.  Please bring a large dish to pass and your own beverage.  We have decided not to assign groups of people to bring specific dishes.  Instead we want you to bring your favorite dish.  Please post a note to the event to let us know how many are in your group so we have plenty of hot dogs.  Also include what you will be bringing so we won’t have all of one dish.

(NO ALCOHOL IS ALLOWED)

HOT DOGS, PLATES, NAPKINS AND TABLE SERVICE WILL BE PROVIDED
