Geocache Description:

Brandon’s first power trail featuring all the Mayors of the City.

Caches should all prove to be a fairly quick find on what we thought was a beautiful drive.  Hopefully you learn a little along the way as well.

John S. McDiarmid (1846-1936)

John McDiarmid was born on June 4, 1846 in Brinston, Ontario.   He arrived in Brandon during the spring of 1882 and practiced medicine here.  He served two terms as Mayor of Brandon.  This cache is in honor of his first term, 1892 - 1894.

John and his wife Mary had two children; Alfred Reginald McDiarmid and Anna H. McDiarmid.  Alfred also served a term as Mayor of Brandon (see a cache further in the series).

John passed in  Brandon on October 16, 1936 and is buried in the Brandon Cemetery.  He is commemorated by McDiarmid Drive in Brandon.
