Frederick H. Young was born in Bournemouth, England. He came to Canada and settled in Brandon. He served on city council for several years and was Mayor of Brandon from 1938 to 1943. He stepped down as Mayor to run for the Manitoba Legislature but was defeated. He is commemorated by Young Avenue in Brandon.
