Geocache Description:

CACHE: Camo'd container with room for trades.

HISTORY: Some drive through here and don't realize this used to be a small town, with future roads platted. A couple of those roads were created and still exist, running west off Wilder Road north of M-21. Homes were built instead of businesses. Named for Simeon Slater, it was originally called Slater's Corners. Simeon had invented and patented a washing machine, built them out of a barn turned into factory here, and he traveled around selling them himself. In 1939, Glen Slater ran a canned food company at Slater's Corners, selling vegetable soup, small Irish potatoes and a "boiled dinner" in a can. The town never had a post office and didn't grow past having a furniture store, jewelry shop, gas station and a grocery.
