BACKSTORY:
As the world's first center for education, training, research, and interpretation of Wildland Fire - nature's most dramatic agent of change - the Columbia Breaks center is truly one-of-a-kind.
It informs people of all ages of the historic impact and ecological role of wildland fire; the interaction of fire with human culture; the role of wildland agencies in fire management; and how the public can prevent and reduce the impact of wildfires.
Thanks in part to a Heritage Capital Projects grant from the Washington State Historical Society, the Columbia Breaks Fire Interpretive Center will continue to educate and hopefully save resources, property and lives.
