Geocache Description:

This multi on Spike Island will take you on a 1.6 km walk, once you are on the island the path is mostly flat and well paved. The final is accessable from a wheelchair, the T rating has been set to reflect the need to cross the water to get here. Swimming is not recommended and If you decide to use your own method of transport just bear in mind that this is a busy harbour with huge cruise liners docking here regularly in the summer months.


There is paid parking in Cobh town centre, maximum stay 3hours. You can park for longer than this in the Heritage Centre which is about 5 mins walk, west of the town centre. There is a ferry service that leaves from Kennedy pier in the centre of Cobh

 

This multi starts at the main cache coordinates and takes you on a the Glacis walk around the outside of Fort Michael, you can go either way but the sages are listed clockwise. All the numbers you need can be found on the information boards on this walk. Walk from here to the first board to start.

Stage 11 - How Cork Harbour Was formed - 18,000 years ago 150-?50 metre thick thick glaciers flowed over the landscape carving out the valleys we see today. Where ? = K
