Geocache Description:

This one is located where a kid (or adult) can be a kid!

The cache itself is small, we have left crayons for you to take so embrace your innner child!

Please remember to close the container tightly and hide as well or better than you found it!

Crayons are essentially sticks of wax. They are made from petroleum paraffin wax and color pigment and since they are cheap, non-toxic, relatively mess free and not sharp they are a favorite kindergarden supplies. They are typically 3.5in in length and have a paper wrapper around them to help them from breaking. The major company that produced most crayons today started with 8 colors in 1903, black, brown, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet. Now there are 120 current colors and some other which have been retired.

Originally a few of the major companies who produced crayons had whale blubber in their ingredients but they have since changed their recipes so no longer contain the blubber. There have been over 300 companies who made crayons but now there are only a few left, A W Faber Company was one of the first companies to produce the wax crayons. Crayola alone makes 3 billion crayons each year that is enough to cover the world six times! The 100 billionth crayon was made in 1996 and was made by Fred Rogers of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. The color was blue ribbon.

A study determined that the favorite colored crayon for most people in the United States is blue! A Yale study determined that the aroma crayons give off is one of the most recognized scents by adults, it ranked #18 on the list just ahead of coffee and peanut butter. The current major crayon company celebrated their 100th anniversary back in 2003 and to celebrate they allowed user to name four new colors and pick four to retire.
The new colors were inch worm, jazzberry jam, mango tango and wild blue yonder. The colors voted out were blizzard blue, magic mint, mulberry and teal blue.

So in honor of being a kid again feel free to take a crayon and get in touch with your inner child!
Happy Geocaching!
