Since Mr Ge0Patr0l was a kid, he spent some time every summer at the nearby family property on the lake. Lots of time was spent exploring the nearby trails, swimming, and fishing. One of his best memories is swimming over to the point then being picked up by the boat for lunch and an afternoon of fishing.
A number of years ago, Mr Ge0Patr0l's grandparents were out fishing and spotted an unusual amount of smoke coming from the point. While there is a fire pit there, it did not look like a campfire. Also missing were any boats or signs of life. They quickly pulled the lines in and beached the boat just as a tree exploded in flames. Knowing that any forest fire would quickly wipe out a number of nearby cabins and residences they grabbed buckets and the chainsaw to extinguish the fire before heading into town to contact forestry. It seems a campfire was left unattended and smouldered for a couple days before spreading.
The evidence of the fire can still be found nearby and while the fire pit can still be used, please respect our forests and make sure it's fully extinguished before leaving.
