Significant Churches #8 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Reviewer Revan: Cache Owner (CO) has not responded, so I am regretfully archiving this cache to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking new cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace this cache sometime in the future (not to exceed 10 days from the date of this entry), just contact me (by e-mail), and assuming it still meets the current Guidelines, I will consider unarchiving this cache.

Please be advised this is not a guarantee that this geocache will be unarchived. Many factors will go into my decision. The most important of which is how you responded to geocachers who tried to communicate with you regarding the problem(s) with this geocache hide and how you communicated with me, the Reviewer Revan.

Geocache Description:

This is a cache located at a church in Whitney, Texas. One of many that I pastored before retiring in 2010.  It is a part of a series entitled Significant Churches #_____________.

The  King Memorial United Methodist was first organized in 1875.  In 1880 one year after the town of Whitney was founded on the rail line the sanctuary was built on its current site, the church was named King Memorial in 1901 to honor Capt. Newton J. King, an area pioneer and early church member.  Over the years, the congregation has provided significant service and leadership to the town. Current ministries include a Thrift Store and Kings Kings Preschool Program.

My wife and I were priviledged to pastor this church from June 2002 to June 2006...

Stealth is required on Sunday mornings and at times during the week during pre-school classes.

The cache is a magnetic altoids box covered in patriotic tape in honor of it being placed Memorial Day Weekend.

Congrats to Texas Magic Lady on being FTF!
