Johnny Appleseed is a folk hero based on frontier nurseryman John Chapman,
who established orchards throughout the American Midwest.
In order to complete this field puzzle geocache, you will be visiting a popular location in Brunswick.
This spot can be very busy at certain times of year,
but no worries, the location of the geocache itself is off site.
You most likely will be able to look for the cache without curious muggle eyes watching you.
It would be a good idea to have a pen and paper with you!
There is a bit of simple math involved too, so
please read all instructions carefully.
Use this formula:
N 41 15.ABC
W 081 50.DEF
The posted coordinates will bring you to the front of the property.
To solve for A: Count the number of letters on one side of the sign that is hanging
over the front entrance of the building. SUBTRACT 2.
To solve for B: How many different colors is this building stained? (Do NOT include the color of the trim.)
To solve for C: How many letters are in the first word on the main sign that is near the road?
To solve for D: On the same sign, what is the last digit in the year on this sign?
At the next waypoint, (N 41° 16.146 W 081° 50.489) you will be near the scenic overlook area.
To solve for E: If you look north, you will see a large building.
How many round windows are above the main doorway?
To solve for F: How many vertical posts are holding up the overlook deck canopy?
(The overlook deck that is on the hillside, NOT the deck of the building to the north.)
If you would like to check your answers before going to look for the geocache:
A + B + C + D + E + F = 34
Coordinates are provided for the street leading to the park where the final is located.
