Litchfield, Ohio was established as part of Medina County in 1831.
Originally, the land that became the township was part of the Connecticut Western Reserve.
This was a tract of land granted to the State of Connecticut by King Charles II in 1662.
After the American Revolution, it was sold by the state to help pay war debts.
Named for Litchfield, Connecticut, Litchfield, Ohio boasted saw and grist mills early on,
as well as a cheese factory.
Today, Litchfield is largely a dairy community.
Many other small businesses also thrive in Litchfield,
such as restaurants, meat markets and shops.
Litchfield is one of few communities with a town band which plays
most Fridays in summer in the center of town.
The band was organized in 1901.
Thank you to Heather Davis for this information about Litchfield.

In order to complete this field puzzle geocache, you will be visiting Litchfield's center of town.
A summertime Friday evening would be a great time to visit if you'd like to hear the town band,
but would NOT be the best time to attempt to solve this field puzzle!
You will be able to obtain all of the information needed
to solve for the coordinates to the final in this general area.
The geocache itself is hidden a short distance away.
It would be a good idea to have a pen and paper with you!
There is a little bit of simple math involved too, so
please read all instructions carefully!
Use this formula:
N 41 10.ABC
W 082 01.DEF
To solve for A: Find the bench with the image of a delivery truck on it.
How many lines of text are on the delivery truck?
Take this number and SUBTRACT 5.
To solve for B: Refer to the historical marker located nearby.
What is the last digit in the year that Cynthia Bennett began directing the Town Band?
To solve for C: There is a bench dedicated to the founding members
of the Litchfield Historical Society.

To solve for DE: Find the large boulder with an inscription on it.
Take the last two digits in the date that is inscribed on the boulder and ADD 3.
To solve for F: Find the plaque that is on the brick base of the gazebo.
What is the last numeral on this plaque?
