After a few years of bouncing around, dissappearing, being found again, the Doge cache is finally back!

Quite a few things have changed with this geocache over the years, but the same Doge spirit is still here once more. A long time ago my then girlfriend was looking to place her own geocache. Thus, inspired by one of the great internet classics, the Doge cache was born. West Tyson Park is a favorite of ours, with its many large and impressive hills and ancient mountains topped in wraggled pines, much like at the area where you'll find this.

Along the trail this is a very unique an interesting spot. The top of the hill seems to form a small natural amiptheater or cove of rocks which I've sat to rest on and eat granola after a long hike back from the north end of the park. It's possible this area is man made as the missing rock material seems to be heavily piled on opposite the cove, but it is a nice landmark and popular spot regardless.

Initially the cache was hidden in said alcove, until the original was griefed and dissappeared sadly. It was then downsized to a micro, where that too seemingly disappeared and reappeared as DNFs over the years due to its small size in a spot with MANY hidding places. Upon going back after two years to replace the cache, I found two letterbox caches that either were added over the years or had been sneakily hidden at this spot all along. I wanted to avoid having the geocache confused with these two similar sized letterbox containers, so I had to reimagine Doge in a new hiding spot.

Because of this the difficulty rating has been increased. The new hiding spot is in a nearby, but much quieter location, comfortably out of site of muggles and the like, just about 10-20ft off the Chubb Trail and away from the rock pile and rock alcove - one way distance is about 0.3 miles on most direct route from Chubb parking lot, with an overall elevation gain of 95ft. in elevation. There are many rocks in this area next to the trail so watch your step as you explore. As with my last cache, there is no need to remove large rocks that might disturb the environment. Most of the caches hidden in this area are obscured by smaller rocks and wood. Lastly, please replace the camoflauge exactly or as best as you can. It is difficult to spot, but there are always tell tale geo-sensing signs that something doesn't belong. :)

Enjoy West Tyson park and geocache responsibly!

NOTICE: Please be respectful of the posted park hours. If you enter the park after hours you are trespassing. If you are stopped you can be ticketed or arrested and will put the future of geocaching in the parks in jeopardy. Special permission to hide caches in St. Louis County parks is NOT needed as long as the Groundspeak rules are followed. "Blanket Permission" has been worked out in advance with the park service. DO NOT CALL THE PARK as they cannot handle the calls. The Groundspeak cache reviewer does need to know exactly how and where the caches are hidden and what type of containers are used. The geocaching liaisons will notify the park service of new caches. Remember NO AMMO BOXES or PVC PIPE caches.
