Shari Decter Hirst was elected mayor of Brandon in the 2010 election.   She is the city's first female mayor in City Council history.

She was formally sworn into office on November 9, 2010

Decter Hirst previously ran as a New Democratic Party of Manitoba candidate in Brandon West in 1990, losing to incumbent MLA James McCrae.
