Geocache Description:

Drive to the site with a high clearance vehicle, but the easiest parking is near the Pandora Mill. Learn more about the iconic building and power plant above the falls.

Discover Telluride History! Tucked in the “Hydropower in the San Juans” cache are fun historic photos as well as the remarkable stories behind bringing electricity to this remote mining region.

Bridal Veil Power Plant was the brain child of Bulkeley Wells, the manager of the highly profitable Smuggler-Union Mine. It went online in 1907 and provided electricity until 1953, at which point it was abandoned. After careful restoration, the plant continues today to generate electricity. 

It is possible to reach the site with a 4x4 high clearance vehicle, but the easiest parking is near the Pandora Mill.

This cache was created by the Telluride Historical Museum. We’ve hidden five historic caches throughout the area—be sure to find them all!
