An extreme tour of backwoods Grant's Trail. Along the way you will be climbing, bushwhacking, entering dark and confined spaces, ascending heights and wading through water. Expect to get grimy, expect to get wet, and expect to be pushed to the limit. If you like a challenge then this cache is for you. All stages were placed on foot. You might be able to use a bike to ride from point to point but almost all the stages are located in the woods or off trail. It is not recommended that you take a stroller while working on this cache. Travel distance is 5+ miles each way. If you can make it out alive you will have survived GRANT'S FEAR FACTOR.
At the posted coordinates, you are looking for a plaque along the trail. Use the information you find on the plaque to calculate a projection from stage one (the posted coordinates) to stage two. Take the two-digit number on the train in the picture and multiple this by 11 to get the distance in feet. Now take the last digit of the last year mentioned under "Rail to Trail" and multiply this by 56.5 to get the bearing in degrees. At the second stage you are looking for a preform tube "up high."
You will need the following equipment: UV Flashlight, regular flashlight(s), clothes and shoes to get wet in, camera (optional but helpful for keeping track of information you find along the way) and or notebook to keep notes, climbing ability, puzzle solving skills (smart phone will be helpful), waders (optional), sense of adventure.
*Note* You will find information at the various stages which you will need in order to reach the the final. Keep track of everything and take notes along the way. All stages will require some sort of climbing, bushwhacking, tunneling, creek crossing, or exploring ruins. Some stages are considered VERY scary. Please be careful and know your limits.
**Note** Do not attempt this cache during a rain. It is also recommended you work with a partner and let someone know where you are at all times.
