Please do not park in the Museum parking lot during construction. Street parking is available nearby. Be respectful of the landscape. And take a selfie while you're there (if you feel so inclined)! BACKSTORY:
Originally built as a Lutheran Church in 1907, it has subsequently been used as the home for Vashon Allied Arts and the Vashon Children's Centre. The Museum houses a permanent exhibit, periodic special exhibits, a History Resource Room, and an extensive archive of photographs and other materials.
The mission of the Vashon-Maury Island Heritage Association is to collect, preserve, interpret and exhibit materials reflecting the unique history and culture of Vashon-Maury Island and to serve as a resource for the region and community through educational programs, the collection of documents and data, and the operation of the Vashon-Maury Island Heritage Museum.
Thanks in part to a Heritage Capital Projects grant from the Washington State Historical Society, it can continue to fulfill its mission.
