Please join us on Sunday, July 3rd for an event of multiple dimensions – presented by The Oregon Garden and the town of Silverton.
First – this is an “all day” cache event. We start at 9:00 am and go well into the evening. There will be activities for all ages, approximately twenty new caches, and of course the gardens themselves.
Secondly – this is a “kick off” for a special GeoCoin event. The Oregon Garden and the town of Silverton have partnered to create a special geocoin event celebrating The Oregon Garden’s 15th anniversary and the town of Silverton. (Please note a limited number of these geocoins will be trackable - while supplies last. After these are gone, there will be additional non-trackable coins available)
There will be ten new caches in and around the Garden – each one celebrating a different area of the Garden. Another ten caches will be hidden around Silverton – each one celebrating one of the many beautiful murals throughout the community.
To earn a coin you must find a minimum of fifteen of these caches. An Oregon Garden Geocaching Passport will be available at the Visitor’s Center when you enter the Garden. Use this to record codes for each cache found. Once completed, the Cacher may fill out the survey included on the passport and return it to the Visitor Center to claim their coin.
Completed surveys will also be entered into a drawing. The drawing will happen once or twice per year (dates & prizes TBD).
Those caches inside the Garden may only be found during Garden hours, and will require an Admission Fee. A coupon for discounted Garden admission will be available for all geocaching.com users. The coupons are available on a special web page at OregonGarden.org just for geocaching.com users. This coupon should be presented at the admission desk (Visitor Center) when paying admission.
There is no cost to find the caches beyond Garden admission – Garden members and Resort guests are free and may request the passport at the Visitor Center.
Lastly – and most spectacular – this event coincides with the annual “Fireworks in the Garden”. At 6:00 pm the Garden will open to the general public for this FREE event. Just past dusk, you may enjoy one of the premier fireworks displays in the area.
If you have questions, please post them in a “note” on this event page. Answers will be posted here – so place a “watch” on this page to remain “in the know” as things progress.
