A 22km cycle ride around the lanes of Wareham and Corfe Castle. Fantastic views of the Purbeck hills, the coastline and some very pretty little villages. You could make a day of it by adding various other caches along the way. **Note that if you are doing this circuit by car it works better in reverse because of the position of lay-bys.** The D rating is for each cache, the T rating is for the whole circuit.
This is the second Bike-It Dorset series, a 22km circuit around the lanes of Wareham and Corfe Castle, all easily accessible by bike. Note that Dorset is a hilly county, you will need a reasonable level of fitness to complete this circuit by bike. There are a couple of really steep hills (this is Dorset after all!); unless you've got a nifty electric bike like Mrs Smashy, you might want to walk them. However, we have set it with leisure cyclists in mind i.e. there is no off-roading, there are safe areas to pull your bike off the road for each cache, and most importantly, there are occasional country pubs and tea rooms to keep you going! Depending on your fitness, cache-finding ability and extra stops the whole circuit will take 2-4 hours. We couldn't completely avoid main roads - there is one short section between Norden station and Corfe. Plus you will need to cross the A351 at Stoborough. Take your time and keep safe! Caches are not too far apart but enough to gobble up the distance, and we have deliberately used a variety of cache containers to keep the interest going all the way round. There are one or two caches that could take small trackables plus a TB Hotel at #2 which we hope you enjoy. Some are easier to find than others, but those that take a little longer give you a chance to have a drink while you think! Please replace all caches as found and let us know if any need maintenance.
