De molen:
Deze letterboxhybride brengt je naar een klassieke Hollandsche molen, te weten Hollandia in Ankeveen. De huidige molen is gebouwd in 1640 met als doel het waterpeil in het Naardermeer in stand te houden. In 1931 werd er naast de molen een elektrisch gemaal gebouwd, tot 1937 bleef de molen behouden als reservegemaal, maar in 1937 werd de molen uitgesloopt ten behoeve van een grotere woning. Sinds 1938 is de molen in gebruik als horecagelegenheid, en is dat tot op de dag van vandaag gebleven.
De cache:
De cache is een lekker grote, die middels verschillende bakjes ruimte bied aan goodies, travelbugs, en, aangezien het een letterboxhybride is, briefkaarten.
Laat gerust een (gefrankeerd) ansichtkaartje of envelop in de cache achter met daarop ofwel je thuisadres, of de naam van een cache waar je hem in bezorgd wilt zien. En wie weet zie je hem op een dag terug met een boodschap van de cacher die hem verstuurd heeft erop. Vind je een geadresserde kaart in de letterbox, neem hem dan mee en stuur hem op.
In de cache zit ook een stempeltje. Deze moet in de cache blijven!
De cache ligt niet op bovenstaand coördinaat, maar echt ver vandaan ligt hij er ook niet en je kan op dit punt wel mooi je auto kwijt. Let op: de molen is als je vanuit de richting Ankeveen of Hilversum komt rijden niet rechtstreeks bereikbaar vanaf de N236. Je moet in plaats daarvan de parallelweg volgen die ook langs het benzinestation gaat. Zie ook het ingegeven reference point.
De cache is geplaatst met instemming van de eigenaar van het restaurant. De cache is ook buiten openingstijden van het restaurant (Woensdag t/m Zondag, 11:00 – 22:00 uur) te bezoeken, maar op verzoek van de restauranteigenaar gelieve alleen tussen zonsopkomst en zonsondergang op het terrein te komen.
Goed: dan nu hoe je de cache vind: Loop vanaf de parkeerplaats eerst naar: N52 16.656 E005 06.114 Je staat nu pal voor de molen. Bekijk hem nog maar eens goed. De cache is ook hier echter niet, want vanaf hier zal je het met aanwijzingen moeten doen.
Loop bij de molen richting het aangrenzende bakstenen gebouwtje heen naar de waterkant. Tussen baksteen en water vind je de cache. Je hoeft niet over de brug te komen. De cache is een gevalletje ‘in het volle zicht verborgen’. Kijk naar de cachetitel; alle drie de Engelse woorden die je hierin kan herkennen zijn op de cache van toepassing. Ga er gerust even bij zitten als je logt, en plaats nadien a.u.b. de plant weer correct terug zodat hij stevig staat.
Het is een restaurant, dus verwacht bij mooi weer veel dreuzels op het terras.
The mill
This letterbox hybrid is located next to a classic Dutch mill, named Hollandia. It was built in 1640 to help regulate the water in the Naardermeer. In 1931 a new, electrically powered pumping station was built. The mill continued to serve as a backup pumping unit until 1937. In 1938 the ground floor of the mill was turned into a restaurant, which it remains to this very day.
The cache:
This cache is a big one, with multiple storage boxes for goodies, travelbugs and, since it is a letterbox hybrid, post cards. Feel free to leave your own (franked) post card in the cache to be send to either your home address or a cache near you. Who knows, perhaps someday you will see it again with a message written by the geocacher that found your card and send it back. If you find a card in the letterbox, please take it with you and send it back to the owner.
In the cache is also a stamp. Please leave this in the cache!
The cache is not located on the coordinates above, though it’s not too far from there and you can park your car at this location. Warning: if you approach the mill from the direction of Ankeveen or Hilversum, drive past the reference point on the road parallel to the N236 in order to reach the mill, since you cannot reach it directly from the N236 that way.
The cache has been placed with permission from the restaurant owner. It is possible to log the cache outside the opening hours of the restaurant (Wednesday – Sunday, 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM), however on request of the restaurant owner, please only visit the cache between sunrise and sunset.
Alright: now where to find the cache. Start bij walking from the parking area to N52 16.656 E005 06.114. You are now standing right in front of the mill, so take a good look at it. The cache is not located here either though, but from here you have to follow some hints.
Walk around the mill and the small brick building to the water. Search between brick wall and the shore, but do not cross the bridge. The cache is hiding in plain sight. Look at the title of this cache; all three words that you can make from the title somehow refer to the cache. Feel free to take a seat while logging, and when you’re done please put the potted plant back properly so it’s standing sturdy.
On nice, sunny days, beware for a lot of muggles.
