 Closing Ceremony - 2016 GCHR Olympics

Good Luck, Olympians!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pentathlon is derived from the Greek words pente (five) and –athlon (competition).  The first pentathlon was documented in Ancient Greece and was part of the Ancient Olympic Games.  Five events were contested, starting with the long jump, javelin throwing, discus throwing, followed by the stadion (a short foot race), and wrestling.  In the modern era, the current Olympic Games has the following five events: shooting, swimming, fencing, equestrian, and cross country running.
For the GCHR Olympics Pentathlon cache, you will have to compete in the following five events (stages of a multi-cache):
  • Cross Country
  • Javelin
  • Discus
  • Equestrian
  • Fencing
Each stage will provide coordinates to the next stage.  At the first four stages, you should take note of the lock code, which will help you to open the final fifth stage. Effective October 2016, lock codes are no longer required. The final stage will also provide clues for the other medal caches in this series.
This multi-cache is designed for you to park at the first stage and walk to the other stages.  The stages are all in the Greenbrier area of Chesapeake.  You should not attempt to drive to the various stages as there is not always parking available. Please use the walking paths and crosswalks as needed! Remember to be stealthy and put everything back as you found it!
