Per the 3 year life cycle of geocaches in Virginia State Parks, this geocache will be archived soon after the Richmond Rally XV event. UPDATE: This cache will be archived on Monday July 8th.-.
Coordinates will bring you to a nice, new big sign of Pocahontas State Park that shows all trails and facilities, as well as other valuable information such as trail etiquette, the difficulty scale on how park trails are rated and Emergency Contact Numbers. Commit this sign to your memory and explore every inch of trail you possibly can. What this sign does not show, of course, is where you will find the cache you now seek (or any others, for that matter).
There is also a smaller sign at GZ that provides some information about the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC), the young men that built so much of so many of our great parks and forests. As geocachers here at Pocahontas State Park, we spend a healthy amount of time in the woods and parks that were created by the CCC. Being a geocacher and a history nut, I want others to go beyond just reading the words on the sign, but imagine what it must have been like to be here back then. Let your imagination run wild for a moment and maybe you'll understand the meaning behind the words on this sign. Of course, there are no words on this either telling where the cache is.
BYOP...and maybe a special tool to help extract the log.
This cache is located within Pocahontas State Park and placed with permission of Park Management. Parking fees apply, day searching only, please CITO and Leave No Trace.
Congrats to geospillz and WINWINTERs on the FTF.
