Geocache Description:

Some may remember the orginal Claire's locket cache. Claire has returned, it seems she was in the wrong zip code. 😏 😆

It was a dark and rainy night as Steve drove home from his prom. He turned on to a side road, the usual shortcut he took home. He spotted a shadow on the side of the road,a young women in a white dress. Steve didn't usually make a habit of picking up strangers but he couldn't leave this young girl on the side of this country road so late at night. He pulled over and offered her a ride. 'Hi, thank you so much. I have to be home , my parents are waiting for me. My name is Claire. ' she said as she hopped up into his pick up. 'Nice to meet you, I'm Steve, where you heading? '. 'Last house on this road, we own the gas station. Thank you, my parents are waiting for me'. Claire replied. Steve drove on. He noticed how Claire was shivering, she must be soaked to the bone. He pulled a blanket off the back of the seat and offered it to Claire. Steve attempted to make conversation with Claire, she simply stared out the window while clutching her locket. 'That's a beautiful locket Claire ' Steve said, again trying to strike up conversation. 'My parents gave it to me ' Claire answered. Steve slowed down as he approached the intersection , 'is this the place? ' Steve asked pointing the driveway. 'Yes, thank you'. Claire replied as she threw the blanket off and jumped out of the truck and ran across the gas station parking lot. Strange, Steve thought just as he noticed Claire's locket laying on the truck seat. Steve looked down the driveway for Claire, she was not in sight. He decided to pull into the lot to return the locket. As he pulled up to the station, the light came on. Steve got out of his truck as an elderly couple walked out of the house attached to the gas station. 'Evening, I just gave Claire a ride. I have her locket.' Steve explained to the couple. ' Claire was our daughter, she passed away 20 years ago. Hit by a car, just down the road. '. Steve stepped back. He was befuddled. ' Don't worry, you're not the first. They never caught who hit her with the car. I suppose her spirit won't rest until they do'. The elderly women said. 'Oh, ummmm. Here's her locket back, I gotta go'. Steve replied. He quickly jumped into his truck and sped away from the house. Still trembling Steve thought to himself, maybe I'm dreaming. This can't be real . A ghost? A vanishing ghost? There is absolutely no way. He looked down to the floor of his truck where the blanket he gave to Claire was laying. No, I'm not dreaming. Steve thought. This actually happened. He drove home as fast as he could. Steve never spoke of this evening to anyone and never drove that back road again.
