The Aim

The Aim of the South African Scout Association is to encourage the spiritual, mental, social and physical development of boys and girls, young men and women in achieving their full potentials as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities by: developing their character; training them in citizenship; developing their spiritual, social, mental and physical qualities

Scout Groups
The Scout Association of South Africa is made up of three branches: Cubs: boys and girls 7 till 11 years Scouts: boys and girls 11 till 18 Rovers: young men and women from 18 to 35 Scouting is run in local Scout Groups, which may be made up of units for each branch, for example, a Cub Pack, a Scout Troop and a Rover Crew. Groups are run by volunteer adult leaders as well as a parents' committee. The volunteer leaders, known as Scouters, run a programme of weekly meetings, camps, hikes and similar activities.
