Geocache Description:

A micro in a patch of dead sassafras trees that appear to be watching hikers as they pass.

While hiking the North Country Trail in early spring 2016 for our NCT 100 mile challenge my wife and I spotted this small stand of dead sassafras trees with holes, or 'eyes' in them. The area is public land owned by the Michigan DNR and is along a former segment of the North Country Trail. There is a trailhead parking lot on Solon Street between Division and Olin Lakes that is small and tough to spot. The cache is about 3/10 mile south on the trail from there, or there is plenty of parking at Long Lake Park on 17 mile Road. That hike is about 2/3 mile north. This cache is winter accessible (with proper gear, of course!) The cache itself is a larger micro with only a log book and pencil. *Please do not attempt to remove the container from it's 'hiding' spot, just remove the cover where it is* Cache was placed on Independence Day 2016, so the FTF will be rewarded with a crisp $2 bill (with a depiction of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on the back)
