The Location
This cache is placed with permission on the grounds of Tim's Ford State Park. Located on the Tims Ford Reservoir, the 2,200-acre Tims Ford State park sits in the shadows of the Cumberland Plateau in south-central Tennessee. The Tims Ford Lake is considered one of the most picturesque lakes in Tennessee and is regarded as one of the top bass fishing and recreational lakes in the Southeast. Please observe all park policies, as it is a great privilege to be able to play here. This area closes at dusk. Please use trail heads and stay on the trails, there is no need to bushwhack.
The Area
The first settlements were established in Franklin County around 1800, and the county was formally organized in 1807 and named for Benjamin Franklin. During the next several decades, the size of the county was reduced several times by reorganizations which created the neighboring counties of Coffee County, Moore County, and Grundy County. One of the most notable early settlers was frontiersman Davy Crockett.
