The small community of Bloomingburg made a big impact through their involvement in the Underground Rail Road. Many who lived here were abolitionists who actively took park in helping ex-slaves towards their new life. Many of the ex-slaves became conductors on the underground railroad. Many of the Underground stations are still standing, such as the Presbyterian Church, only a short walk away.
The Bloomingburg Town Hall is also a building with some great history. It original stood as the Bloomingburg Academy. A place of great learning and importance to the community.
