[EN] Saros pe Tarnave (Szászsáros in Hungarian, Scharosch an der Kokel in German) is on the road between Medias and Sighisoara, on the street leading to Biertan.
The fortified monument church (today lutheran) from Saros pe Tarnave was built in the 14th century. The existence of a roman-catholic priest is mentioned in the documents in the year 1282. The church was built in gothic style, with three naves, and a tower which were probably built using the previous church ruins. In 1438 the settlement was occupied by the Turks, the church was set on fire. Reconstruction was more modest, only the main nave was restored, but eventually, in the 15th century a tower and a fortress with three towers were added to the church.

[RO] Șaroș pe Târnave, mai demult Șaroșu Săsesc, (în dialectul săsesc Schuersch, în germană Scharosch an der Kokel, în maghiară Szászsáros) este o localitate în județul Sibiu, Transilvania, atestată din 1282.
În prima jumătate a secolului 14 se construieşte biserica cu trei nave, distrusă apoi de turci. In 1422 se inaugurează biserica gotica reconstruită, primind hramul Sf. Elena și Sf. Nicolae. Apoi se construieşte si zidul fortificat (înalt uneori de 10m), întărit cu 3 bastioane si 2 turnuri de apărare, pe care se văd guri de tragere și guri de smoală. La începutul secolului 16 se construiește turnul bisericii, iar apoi se montează ceasul. În 1772 încep lucrări de renovare: se reconstruiește plafonul, iar maestrul Johan Folbart din Sighișoara montează altarul baroc în corul bisericii în 1774. La începutul secolui 19 maeștrii Friedrich și Wilhelm Maetz din Biertan construiesc orga.

[DE] Scharosch an der Kokel / Şaroşu pe Târnave/ Szászsáros. Scharosch liegt vor der Mündung des Birthälmer Baches in die Große Kokel, direkt an der Landstraße, die Mediasch mit Schäßburg verbindet.1283 erfolgte die ersten urkundliche Erwähnung.
Auf einer höher gelegenen Terrasse am Südufer der Großen Kokel entstand wohl kurz nach der Orts gründung eine romanische Kapelle, dann im 14. Jahrhundert eine dreischiffige turmlose Basilika, der hl. Helene geweiht. Mitte des 15. Jahrhunderts ist der Sakralbau befestigt worden. In die einfache Ringmauer fügten sich vier Türme und ein Torturm mit Fallgatter. Anfang des 16. Jahrhunderts wurde der Glockenturm vor die Westfassade der turmlosen Basilika aufgeführt. Das Westportal wird durch Birnstab, Rundstab und Hohlkehlen gegliedert. Im Bogenfeld ist ein angeblendetes gotisches Maßwerk angebracht.
[HU] Szászsáros (románul: Șaroș pe Târnave, korábban Șaroșul Săsesc, németül: Scharosch an der Kokel) falu Romániában, Erdélyben, Szeben megyében. Valószínűleg a tatárjárás után, a 13. század közepén települt szász lakossággal.
A falu evangélikus erődtemploma: A déli falba beépítve fennmaradt a falu első templomának, egy román stílusú kápolnának félköríves apszisa. A mai templom elődjét a 14. század első felében építették gótikus stílusban, háromhajós, torony nélküli templomként. Ebből a periódusból a szentély maradt fenn. Az 1438-as török pusztítás után az oldalhajókat a keleti oldal kivételével lebontották, ezzel kereszthajót alakítva ki. 1810-ben barokkizálták és hajóját megmagasították. A várfalat eredetileg három bástyával és két toronnyal a 15. században építették.
