IT]Sant'Angelo è un sobborgo del comune di Treviso e si articola in due centri abitati localizzati a sudovest del centro storico. Borgo Sile (detto anche Santa Maria del Sile o Sant'Angeo Nòvo), grosso quartiere di recente formazione posto più a levante e Sant'Angelo vero e proprio, modesto agglomerato con caratteri ancora rurali raccolto attorno alla chiesa parrocchiale.
La cache è piazzata nelle vicinanze di quest’ultima, intitolata all'arcangelo Michele e affacciata sul fiume Sile come il resto della Sant’Angelo più antica.
La formazione di un centro abitato ben definito si ebbe solo in epoca Medievale con la fondazione della chiesa. La leggenda vorrebbe che sulla sponda destra del Sile esistesse un fortilizio in cui si era insediato il celebre Orlando, alla testa di duemila cavalieri e soldati franchi. Nel 774, dopo tre giorni di digiuno e preghiere, il paladino riuscì a sbaragliare i Longobardi grazie all'intercessione di San Michele. L'anno successivo fu così ultimata una cappella in onore dell'arcangelo.
[ENG]Sant'Angelo is a suburb of the town of Treviso and is divided in two centers located southwest of the city center. Borgo Sile (also called Santa Maria del Sile or Sant'Angeo Novo), a large and more recent area, place more to the east and Sant'Angelo real, modest agglomeration with even rural characters gathered around the church.
The cache is placed in the vicinity of this, dedicated to the Archangel Michele and overlooking the Sile river as the rest of the oldest Sant'Angelo.
The formation of a well-defined town came only in medieval times with the founding of the church. The legend has it that on the right bank of the Sile river there was a fortress where has established the renowened Orlando, at the head of two thousand francs knights and soldiers. In 774, after three days of fasting and prayer, the champion was able to defeat the Lombards thanks to the intercession of St. Michael. The following year was thus completed a chapel in honor of the Archangel.
