Kolumna ta upamiętnia zwycięstwo odniesione nad wojskami szwedzkimi przez księcia Jerzego Sebastiana Lubomirskiego - Marszałka Wielkiego Koronnego w roku 1655. Lubomirski wykorzystał warunki terenu i w tym miejscu czekał na wojska nieprzyjaciela nadciągające od strony Wiśnicza, który wcześniej zdobyli. Doskonały widok jaki rozpościera się stąd umożliwił mu obserwowanie marszu Szwedów i zaatakowanie ich w odpowiednim momencie. Bitwa zapewne nie była wielka ani specjalnie długa. Dla jej upamiętnienia zwycięzca ufundował w tym miejscu pomnik. Miejsce szczęśliwe dla bitwy dla pomnika okazało się niezbyt fortunne. Z uwagi na położenie na szczycie góry oraz strzelistą formę kolumna często jest celem dla piorunów. W swojej ponad 350 letniej historii kilkakrotnie popadała w ruinę a następnie była odnawiana. Podczas renowacji często znajdowano wokół fragmenty zbroi, broni, monety i inne pamiątki z minionych wieków. Obecna jej barokowa forma pochodzi z XIX wieku, na szczycie znajduje się figura Chrystusa Frasobliwego.
This column commemorates the victory won over the Swedish army by Prince Jerzy Sebastian Lubomirski - Great Crown Marshall in the year 1655. Lubomirski took advantage of the terrain and in this place waiting for the enemy army approaching from the side of Wiśnicz. Excellent view which stretches from here enabled him to observe the march of the Swedes and attack them at the right time. The battle probably was not great nor particularly long.
