Geocache Description:

This geocache is located at one of several "northern suburbs" of the "Lost City of Volvon,"; a significant Native American site in the Morgan Territory - Mount Diablo area. The Lost City and its suburbs have well over 1000 mortar holes, which were used by members of the Volvon tribe of Bay Miwok Indians to grind acorns and other food item.

For additional details on the Lost City, see the Lost City of Volvon geocache.

There are several mortar holes at this site, but the most remarkable feature of this site is a massive stone wall that surrounds an area just north of the cache, a circle roughly 50 meters (150 feet) in diameter. What was this used for? No one knows for sure.

There is some poison oak and stickers at the cache site, so be careful.

Come and enjoy this great site, but PLEASE DO NOT DISTURB, HARM OR REMOVE any Native American items, as they are strictly protected by federal and state laws.
