In 1974, my dad was on summer vacation from teaching school in Culbertson, Mt. and took a sumer job spraying weeds for the county. One day, while spraying weeds about 10 miles north of Bainville, Mt. on a hillside, in a bunch of brush, my dad spotted this old stove. The area was not even close to a modern day road and very secluded. He could see that the stove was very old, probably used in someone's homestead around 1900. It had been discarded in this remote area at some point and had been there for years. My dad decided to load it up and take it home. It has served as his mailbox stand ever since, in Culbertson, Mt, and then later when he moved to Plentywood, Mt. in 1976. It's current location is where it has been since 1986. Before then it served my father at a different location in town. This is also the house my brother and I basically grew up in. My dad still lives here, and with his permission, I placed this cache. Bring a writing stick and enjoy!
