Te Arawa Waka Taua II (Rotorua) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

GenCuster: 14/05/21 Sadly, with the ongoing redevelopment, the feature at GZ has changed and while public access still is not available, any future replacement would not be at the ‘original’. Pity as combined with my prior cache at GZ, well over a thousand happy logs here. Hopeful to reinstate a new cache at the feature once ‘redevelopment’ has been completed. Happy caching & thanks for finding my caches, GC.

Geocache Description:

Waka Taua

- a vessel for the conveyance of a war party -
Te Arawa should be accorded the respect that this function commands.

The Waka is some 20 metres long, weighs 2.5 tonnes and was constructed by hand, using traditional techniques and tools.

The hull is three separate sections of Totara (a NZ native species of timber) bound together.
Further information is at GZ.

*** Container cannot hold anything apart from the included log sheet. ***
