Förr i tiden användes träsket när byborna skulle sköta familjens tvätt. Stora bykgrytor har funnits uppställda på stranden.
The story goes that once upon a time there was woman who never got any children of her own. Once she got old and passed away she had sort of a new life deep in the bottom of this Loch. She couldn´t get rid of the thought of children so she tried to get hold of others. Every time a child came to play or swim in the lovely water she was there ready to grab hold of the youngster to take it down into the deep dark waters… Did she ever succeed we do not know, but even today there are grown people who never would dare to take a swim here because of those scary childhoodstories… But you, who just heard this do not need to be afraid, do you? The little lake has also been of great importance as a waterhole for animals. Farmers came here to collect fresh water for their stocks, and at wintertime they collected huge blocks of ice which then were stored underneath sawdust to prevent from melting too quickly. Like that they had ice for a long time to keep for instance their fish catch cold and fresh. And alongside the shore of the lake there used to be several washing pots that were heated for the big laundry-days. Imagine! It was really not at all that long a time ago people used to come her for that purpose. But today we use the place as a recreation spot! So, have a nice and fairly warm swim here and enjoy the tranquility at the place!
