Welcome to the State Botanical Garden of Georgia, a unit of the University of Georgia’s Public Service and Outreach division. The Garden is the home of stunning arrays of colorful flora spread throughout a varied collection of gardens, displays and trails.
The Garden grounds are open from 8 am to 6 pm every day October through March and 8 am to 9 pm April through September except for official University of Georgia holidays. The visitor center, however, is only open from 9 am to 4:30 pm Tuesday through Saturday, 11:30 am to 4:30 pm on Sunday, and is closed on Monday. Take the time, if it is open, to visit the indoor tropical garden while you are here.
It may take an hour or so to complete this Wherigo geocache which consists of nine sites. At each site you will answer questions with information found at that location. After completing all nine sites, you will have earned the coordinates for the location of the geocache container. By doing so you will have visited many outdoor gardens located here, as well as other sights along the many paths and trails on your journey.
The Garden management has authorized this geocache with the stipulation that all those participating MUST stay on the paths and trails. The final is the exception as it requires going off of the path/trail to find it. So take your time and enjoy the rich floral history of Georgia and dazzling beauty of the Garden along your way.
