Geocache Description:

The City Hall of Kansas City is the official seat of government for the city. It is a 29 story skyscraper located downtown  and has an observation deck on the top of it. It is the 4th tallest city hall in the world, the 7th tallest building in Kansas City and is flanked by 2 hippocampus fountains to the south.

The building was built in 1937, under the influence of Tom Pendergast (who owned a concrete company that built the city hall), the "political boss" of Kansas City at the time. It was built as an attempt to counter the effects of the great depression on Kansas City, and was part of a series of other government buildings, which included the Jackson County Courthouse built in 1934 located just to the south of it. Harry S. Truman, presiding judge of the courthouse at the time was heavily involved in the design process.  He maintained an office in the new courthouse building during most of his first term as U.S. Senator from 1935 to 1939.

The East side of downtown has several historical and a few whimsical statues and fountains. To highlight some of the noteworthy locations in this area I have put together an intercache starting at the posted coordinates.

An InterCache is an interactive geocache that is similar to a wherigo geocache but does not require special GPS equipment or a special smart device application. It does however require a compatible smart device and browser.

To verify that your smart device is compatible, navigate to HERE on it then scroll down to the "Is My Device Supported?" heading and click on the "Test Device" button. Be sure to have your location services turned on and if prompted for location permission, choose to allow intercaching to see your location. Most Android and iPhone devices will work.

There are 6 stops in this area and each will require an answer to proceed.  Once you’ve visited all the locations and answered the questions correctly you’ll see a new location titled “Final” is available.  This will lead to the physical container you can sign.  Follow its instructions carefully as the buildings down here can cause a lot of signal bounce and there are restrictions on where you can retrieve the cache from.

When you are ready to begin follow this link: https://intercaching.com/intercache/play.php?gameId=2393

If you come during a weekday consider visiting the city hall observation deck, it offers a beautiful view of the city.  See the related link for more information.
