The Hand Gobbler: Heretaunga (Upper Hutt) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

wb1116: I will reluctantly archive this cache. It was a great idea by trails trails trails (RIP), and caused him a great deal of grief with significant maintenance required. I'll open the spot to somebody else - hopefully they'll tip their hat to trails trails trails in their cache description.

Geocache Description:

The Hand Gobbler

The cache

This cache is a double screw-top jar to the prevent clever little biting things from getting at the waterproof log. No need to enter the stream to retrieve.

The Cache Location

This weedy stream springs from inside a dense grove of dark trees at the far end of the Royal Wellington Golf Club. It seeps through wild marshy ground before escaping through an old concrete pipe. Toothy, slimey, and particularly tetchy 'things' crawl into this pipe after breeding in the moody Māwaihākona swamp, upstream.

Note: no need to enter the stream, in fact I wouldn't, now I know what's in there.

Please replace the cache as found and ensure lid is replaced tightly so water (or any 'thing') doesn't get in. Thanks.

This is a very busy walkway so please watch for muggles approaching from either direction; timing is everything. Replace cache as found, cheers.
