This cache has been placed on a track known as North Hill Road which used to serve two farms futher along the hill. The farms were abandoned during the second world war and have since been demolished. The stone drinking trough was put here for horses using the road and was once filled by a natural spring. Sadly the spring seems to have dried up and on hot sunny days the trough will be dry.
This is a pretty wooded area and on sunny days dappled sunlight filters through, enhancing the trees. Silver Birch, Mountain Ash (also known as Rowan), Hazel, Sessile Oak, Holly and many more can be seen, many of which produce flowers in the Spring and an abundance of berries in the Autumn.
