Biserica fortificata Ruja - Roseln Traditional Cache

[EN] Ruja (Roseln, Rozsonda). The first church built here was probably a simple Romanesque basilica, but nothing remained from it. In the 15th century, a new church was built, surrounded by a curtain wall whose only walls standing are the ones on the eastern part of the church. As in other cases the church was fortified between the 15th and the 16th century. Today the church was a massive tower on the west with the same width as the hall church. The last level of the tower has a closed wooden gallery on consoles. The ground floor was covered with a cross vault, the access to it being made only from the church through a narrow corridor. Inside the thick wall, stairs provide access to the upper floors. The big bell from around 1500 bears the inscription "O rex glorie veni cum pace". The classic altarpiece made in 1848 has in the center the statue of Christ with a halo and a chalice. The wooden pulpit is from 1850. The organ with ten divisions was made by Samuel Mätz in 1803.

[RO] Ruja (în dialectul săsesc Riseln, în germană Roseln, Rosenthal, în maghiară Rozsonda) este o localitate în județul Sibiu, Transilvania.
Prima biserica ridicata aici in secolul 13 era probabil o basilica romanica simpla, insa de la aceasta nu se mai pastreaza urme. In secolul 15 aici se va ridica o biserica noua, inconjurata de o curtina ale carei singure ziduri ramase in picioare se pot observa in estul lacasului. Probabil ca la fel ca si in alte cazuri biserica va fi fost fortificata la cumpana veacurilor 15-16. Astazi lacasul are un turn masiv de zidarie pe fatada de vest, de aceeasi latime cu biserica sala. Clopotul mare datat in jurul anului 1500 poarta inscriptia: „O rex glorie veni cum pace”. Altarul de factura clasica construit in 1848 are in centru pe Iisus cu nimb si caliciu. Amvonul din lemn poarta data 1850. Orga cu 10 registre este realizata de catre Samuel Mätz in 1803.

[DE] Roseln (Ruja, Rozsonda) ist ein Dorf in Siebenbürgen, liegt im Harbachtal und ist verwaltungsmäßig Teil der Stadt Agnita.
Gotische Saalkirche aus dem 15. Jahrhundert, die 1509 zur Wehrkirche umgebaut wurde. Über dem Chor befindet sich ein Wehrgeschoss auf Strebepfeilern mit Stützbogen und Gussscharten. Der siebengeschossige Glockenturm kann nur aus der Kirche betreten werden. Ringmauer und Wehrtürme wurden im 19. Jh. abgetragen.

Eredetileg bazilikális elrendezésű evangélikus templomának tornya eredeti alakjában, amely igen hasonlított a jakabfalvira, 1250 körül épült. A középkori, gótikus stílusú templomból az északi kapuzat és a kórus keresztboltozata maradt fenn. Nagyobb harangja 1500-ból származik. Nagysinkszék 1509-ben hat forintot rendelt a templom erődítésére. Kettős várfalait a 19. században bontották le, a védőfalakon belül állt kolostorépületet pedig 1924-ben hordták el. A délnyugati oldalon egy védőtorony alapfalai láthatók.
